Originally from '68, this is essentially a June Conquest record. This version, released in 1969, lists June and Donnie, he being Donny Hathaway. He plays on this one, and adds some background vocals, and I'm sure had some production input as well. This record was meant to be June's follow up to 'Take Care' on Windy City. It became the 2nd release of the Curtom label. A year later, Curtis Mayfield apparently felt Donny Hathaway's reputation as songwriter, arranger, producer was such, that adding his name to the record could boost some sales. If only they had spelled his name right. Hope you like this one.

  • Does anyone hear The Impressions in the background?

  • Great version :) ktf

  • I wish that "I thank you Baby" and the song on the flipside "Just another reason" by Donny Hathaway & June Conquest would be posted.

  • very true, this is the 1968 version originally released with the rare silver and black Curtom label before the company hooked up with Buddah for distribution. Curtom also released another June And Donnie 45, "Thank You Baby" which I may post if you don't beat me to it! ha-ha! Once again another classic vid JC! 5 star material!

  • I like it,J.C.
