Pontchartrain beach: Last day open in New Orleans:
1983,Filmed by Pat Barberot jr. and Al Schnyder. Great film from the last day of Pontchartrain beach.we see the picnic area first, many family members and a few rides on the West end of the park, glimpses of the shooting gallery, more attractionsand a ride on the Ragin cajun roller coaster.Kiddie land, giant foam hats and a fantabulistic ride on the skyLift, video footage from the air with commentary by uncle pat,we see the old beach house, remnants of the old diving pier, the walkway above the beach and the sadly dilapidated pool areas.Note the commentary and realization of how historic this footage will be!! Thanks Paw-Paw Al! Ya gotta love the last shot!

  • @thebleedingjeans What a great memory... Your dad sung the theme song... I remember it well.

  • I remember going to the beach every weekend during the summer with Mrs trayler and her sons, fond memories on the last day the rock group Iron Butterfly played, but unfortunatly as before mentioned force intergration caused its closeing gangs, graffitti and the rest of the wonderful things associated with forced intergration

  • @ascii3fhex They also couldn't compete with video games (Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, etc.) and cable TV as well; those two would REALLY spell the end for Pontchartrain Beach.

  • I loved this place. Note at 3:28 who just finished riding the Rajin Cajun. Yes, it it....The Most Interesting Man in the World! Stay thirsty my friends!

  • I remember this place.

I couldn't say the name right and called it Potty Train Beach.

My dad used to sing the theme song At the Beach, At the Beach At Pontchartrain Beach.

I was just in NO last weekend and told my girlfriend how I couldn't say the name right. Thanks for posting this.
