Classical Gas

this is me playing Classical Gas by Mason Williams. the difficult part in learning this was the picking style, although it is supposed to be playedby finger picking, i created my own hybrid picking style involving both the pick and fingers. I had 4 years playing experience at the time this video was recorded.

That hybrid picking style looks very hard for that song.. But it sounds great! I am learning this myself at the moment (with fingerpicking though)

yea fuck the haters that say stop with the pick. u played it good. i would imagine it being harder with a pick. hell i cant even use a pick at all im all about the finger picking, even with solos. good shit. a bit slow, but other than that nice.

Great job, I'm currently learning a different arrangement of this song, but I play fingerstyle, I can't imagine playing this using a pick. I play with a pick, but not hybrid, it must be hard, good job :)

I play "Stairway to Heaven" with my Strat "Pick & Finger" style and was wondering if the same approach could be used for "Classical Gas". You've proved that it can.

A suggestion: It might sound better if you used a different pickup selection. Thanks for the great video and inspiration.
