The story of the Nueva Vida Women's Sewing Cooperative (COMAMNUVI). In Nicaragua there are many free trade zones where mainly women work in "sweat shops", producing clothing under unacceptable labor conditions, long hours and low pay. In a cooperative, the workers are the owners. We are working together to create sustainable employment in the community so that we can support ourselves and our families.

  • I have visited Nueva Vida. The women are amazing. The people from the CDCA are amazing -- committed, caring, and giving. It is important to support them. Contact CDCA to learn what is going on now -- your support is needed urgently. It appears that they may lose their building and land.

  • I love that music! They should sell CDs of that campesino group! It is beautiful!

  • This is some way cool stuff!!! The power of vision, cooperation, and capital, is more powerful than we realize.
