Bored at a Denver layover on my way to Shmoocon 2009, I passed the time by talking to relay operators.

  • whats that black box your typing on ive never seen those before

  • It's a TTY terminal for deaf people. You see them on pay phones occasionally. Sometimes they're located under the phone and open up automatically when you dial a deaf relay number.

  • I wish the data tones were louder since they sound so cool.

  • teletypes are still cool.

  • @NonnyMuss0917 It CAN be an injury.

Place your ear right up to a Marshall Half Stack amp at full volume, have someone strum a chord, and let's see if it's an injury or not.

  • @scooby10doo21 Pretty sure rbcp knows what he's doing.

He's just being a dick to the operator.

  • I heard that if you take apart the TTY terminal You can find the crystal to put in your ham radio, then harass the assholes at taco bell
