TOP 5 SciFi Movie Songs #1

Here we are... my personal pick for the number one top Science Fiction Movie song! It is the Main Title theme for the 1991 Sci-Fi Action movie "Terminator 2: Judgement Day".

This movie is my favorite of the franchise which consists of four movies:
• The Terminator (1984)
• Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
• Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003)
• Terminator Salvation (2009)

Brad Ira Fiedel, a popular and progressive composer in the 1980s, predominantly worked in the action and thriller genres and pioneered the use of electronic instruments and synthesizers, before almost disappearing from the mainstream at the end of the 1990s.

Fiedel has scored many popular and successful movies, including the following:
Fright Night (1985)
Fright Night II (1988)
The Big Easy (1987)
The Serpent and the Rainbow (1988)
The Accused (1988)
Blue Steel (1990)
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)
Blink (1994)
True Lies (1994)

However in recent years, Fiedel has not been in demand as much as he once was. His last major theatrical score was in 1995, and although he enjoyed a brief period of renewed interest following the release of Terminator 3 in 2003, when composer Marco Beltrami wrote an orchestral arrangement of his theme, he shows no sign of returning to the film music arena any time soon.

@KelanDWood T2 will always be my favorite movie of the franchise... not just because of the theme either. I love the dark story and unnerving undertones.

The terminator franchise is way too dated; it was a hit in the 80's because of its cold war undertones, how the combined computer systems of Russia and the U.S. would become self aware and, basically, turn on both powers. Oh wait no it was SKYNET, I forgot! Frankly...... I'm glad THIS dog was put to sleep.

But it's not asleep... they are making another Terminator movie right now. The working title is "Terminator: Salvation".

This isn't the actual T2 theme (not the one on my T2 Soundtrack or T2 Extended Soundtrack CD anyway). Is this some muzak version so you don't have to worry about it being pulled from YouTube?

I agree this is a phenomenal sci fi film theme. I just played Theme From 'The Terminator' & Main Title (T2 Theme) back-to-back. Each brings something unique. IMO T1 has more of a haunting quality to it, while T2 is bolder & is a technically superior recording. Looking forward to hearing picks 2-5.

@StakeJade the story has the right amount of stuff going on. There's more stuff going on then in most movies to make it intriguing but not enough to make it convoluted. The action scenes are thrilling and well choreographed and the special effects are so amazing that you could put the film on mute and be entertained. But my favorite thing has to be the character development and the powerful emotions. I never knew Arnold could be such a great dramatic actor. On top of that it's funny as hell

@stardingo747 I agree with what you say; there is no reason this should be voted down other than the fact that it's anti-terminator (which is a cool series) - but yes, it was popular because of the whole "America's great" and "Russia sucks" mentality at the time....which apparently lives on
