@A550RGY hmm...I would say it works the core, and the grip more than a standard DL because u use only one hand and it`s unstable but works the hamstrings and glutes less because you use less weight.
Because this is such a squat-ish deadlift, you can't move nearly the weight you can with a barbell. That's the only reason it can be effective with the amount of weight you have on a dumbell.
@A550RGY if you're loading a lot of weight on a dumbbell and one handing it, it's supposed to give the core, back, and grip strength a workout but a bit of a boost. Just an option for if you plateau on the barbell. :)
