Buffalo herds are hard to contain. they run over or thru whatever is in the way. The only way buffalo will come back in huge numbers is when many of the farms will not be needed. That would mean a huge depopulation of the world. The american farmer feeds the world as it is now. I wish I had been around to see a herd of a milion buffalo. Awsome animal . I believe the buffalo will return in large numbers one day.

although this may sound like a good idea, and is possible in some ways, bufallo overpasses OVER highways? now that sounds far fetched...

Nah, not when there is money to be made. The original peoples would be breeding buffalo like the white man breeds cattle. There'd be buffalo, buffalo, nothing but buffalo. And the white man would be paying big buck$ to hunt them. Think about it, the reason deer have come back from the brink of extinction is because white hunters wanted deer to hunt. They'd pay to hunt buffalo and the tribes could make a fortune.
