From the Confederate soldiers who left families and longed for home, to my Uncle Beacher who said a prayer each time he left for work in the coal mines, to the strength and devotion of God-fearing mountain people, to the heartache, loss and even the little nicknames we give people we love, these songs tell the stories that many families share of past and present. With pride in our Southern heritage, we must never forget the people who left us this legacy.

  • "Surrender means that the history of this heroic struggle will be written by the enemy; that our youth will be trained by Northern school teachers; will learn from Northern school books their version of the War; will be impressed by all the influences of history and education to regard our gallant dead as traitors, and our maimed veterans as fit subjects for derision." - General Patrick Cleburne, CSA

  • Beautiful song, we must always remember the deeds of those who have gone before us. -Deo Vindice
