Can a tripod be used as a quick, easy, $0 alternative to a Steadicam? You be the judge.

Some suggestions:

1. The tripod was set in the same position as depicted in the photo in this video.

2. It also was held by the center pole in between the tripod legs at its center of gravity. In other words, when held horizontal to the ground, the area where it was held was perfectly balanced (like a see-saw, for lack of a better example.)

3. The Canon FS100 is a small camera, so it may not work for all cameras, or all tripods, for that matter.

4. It takes some practice if you're used to gripping the camera in your hand. It does, however, make for much smoother video shots than filming hand-held-style. With no special equipment required other than a tripod, which is a must-have for any and all videographers and photographers.

Thanks for watching!

(The song, "I'm Only Sleeping (Rehearsal)", by the Beatles, is available on the two-disc set "Anthology 2".)
