  • Ok, Sorry I couldn't reply to alot of you but I dont really care what anyone thinks about this, This was a while ago when I made it and I decided to put it up after I had it on my camera for like 2 years so that makes this like 5 years old.

  • lol you are just a kid and already making your own furnace im trying to make one to mass produce a mine i have in mexico

  • it is really easy i made a nother 1 but it was bigger what you do is get 5 plates of tile make a little hole in 1 of them for the top one to let the air escape and put a pipe on the under side close off 1 end of the pipe put a little hole in the pipe so when you give it air it will go into it burning the charcole or cole hotter heating it up and you can pretty much melt any metal

  • Assuming its not too late and your vision not damaged buy a cutting torch goggles and use them religiously. You'll see everyone working in a foundry has them under their face shield and while it looks cheesy it will save your eyes.

Oh and if you havent already, upgrade to a dedicated furnace and start casting iron. You've taken the first step, see how far the trail leads you and to where. Never hurts to say you operated an iron casting foundry on your resume!

  • I believe this melts iron easily... as a blacksmith and also 17 i can verify that furnaces arent to hard to make, something to hold fire, something to be ON fire inside, and something for extra air. since its so small it focuses the heat much like a cutting torch will do. Im currently building my own furnace, but its bigger, and propane fueled cause im too lazy for normal wood and charcoal =P

  • @drzoidberg223 2000. iron doesnt melt at a higher point than steel which is 2200 for most 2500 for carbon and stainless

  • being pretty incautious there lol, wearing a mask?

  • I think that bucket is made of stone/clay.. right?

but what you have used to do fire? kerosene?

  • the bucket is made of what? steel?^^

  • I never would of thought a hair dryer could be so useful, but apparently you've found another great way to use it. Thanks for expanding my mind.

  • Now you have to try to make steel from the iron :)

your video is WAY COOL. get good at pattern making and casting, and you can have a lot of fun restoring old stuff or making new and interesting stuff

  • Only thing I see, that might be at risk, is the powercord melting, or getting some kind of slag on it to melt, and damage it. I would just keep the cord out of the way, best I could
