EDIT: on getting the tele's in weird places:

Yes, there is a barrier. It can be bypassed, however, if you find the perfect angle and distance. It's very time consuming and frustrating, and unfortunately i don't remember exactly where you have to be. Just try it from different angles and be sure to be about midway away from it(not close to it). rotating it will also help, like trying to get a table through a door in real life.
