what scientist call electron is something wich has got a weight value of 1.109 10-31 Kg with a certain level of energy. If we admit this idea, we must admit that this certain level of energy is changing an electron into somthing else (an X-photon, for example). the evidence of an electromagnetical field is giving a base to the concept of spin. the question is: what is a spin ?
the quatum theory is relevant in this way : electrons may spin. electromagnetical luminescence requires a mathematical analysis to show that different models are not always matcing when they are proposing a global decription of the sub-atomic reality. They probably spin because the spin should be the shape of the condition of stable phases of an atom. The stability of a core is set under thermodynamics conditions wich are including the concept of spin (check for details the works of M.Plank).
the second question could be: should the quantum theory be as quiet as the matter it is describing ?

@f1vescr3ws no they don't it's just a term used by chemists and physicists - electrons do not actually spin

Yup! They spin up AND down.

do electrons really spin?
