  • Does tölting on ice not seem like it could be a bad idea...? O.o

  • excuse me but this video is crap because it is so shooooort !

    this horse is just wonderful

  • Gorgeous! I call these horses "buglegs." The tölt is kind of like dancing the twist! My French spouse I taught to ride adored these horses but liked them best at full gallop! There is no way these horses should be able to do this on such harsh terrain, but they go and go. It's just normal for them and with basic care and attention they are fine. They are much appreciated in Germany, too. They sure are hard to catch, however!

  • my dad is from iceland and we come to iceland offen. and i love comeing out in the wild in iceland. its so beautiful. i live in denmark

  • @Ravenbite Thanks

  • @HanoverianHorse Some have it naturally, some needs a bit of a practice before :) But every icelandic usually have it. (If you mean tölt)

  • The music is so perfect!! What beautiful animals!

  • I'm a horserider from the uk, how do you teach them to do that? do these paces come naturally, or does it take a lot of training?

  • @equijess101 the breed developed in Iceland are are extremely sure-footed. They are usually allowed to run free over the hummocks until they are 3-4 years old, during this time they fully develop their physical abilities and coordination.

  • @artyjax

You put all your weight as much as you can leaning back in the saddle and your feet more forward so to speak, almost like you are falling backward, but not too heavily though ; ) I also think it's nice to give the horse a sign by moving your ring fingers quickly back and forward, while holding the rein..... Then his mane comes up higher.
