Medicare REFUSES to EVER REPLACE MY WHEELCHAIR FIGHT BACK WITH wantstotravel on Twitter too UglyGirlSingsGood Medicare provided this Power Mobility Device 10yrs ago. It is not smart of them to think it has an indefinite lifespan and I will consider it their fault when I get hurt or stuck. Did you know that just taking my service animal outside is me breaking a Medicare Rule called the IN HOME RESTRICTION POLICY ? It is used by Medicare to DENY wheelchair replacements while at the same time secretly inflating your costs generating income for THEM from repeated doctor visits to achieve same goal. The bad part is that Medicare has no intention of EVER using the doctors information or scripts! In 2006 Medicare created new made up Groups for wheelchairs. Mine fell into a category now called Group 4 Wheelchair and Medicare decided to no longer cover this type of wheelchair so they removed or "cross-walked" the reimbursement codes and made me a non existent person!! This means that if you have Medicare as your insurer then you can no longer purchase the type of Durable Medical Equipment your Physicians say you NEED to be SAFE! IF MEDICARE is allowed to continue with their magical medical clairvoyance people like me will no longer be able to remain independent in the community but may indeed be forced to become a ward of the state and give up rights to make medical decisions and possibly even forced into nursing care for a different easier reimbursement protocol NOT because that level of care is needed . Maybe they think Doctors are no longer able to decide medical need on a case by case basis, so now Medicare has lumped us electric wheelchair users together and decided ahead of time just how crippled we are allowed to be before they will no longer purchase our durable medical equipment. I purchased this type of insurance with Medicare agreeing to provide for my medical needs and safety. Now I am an unequal citizen in my own country and I am in DANGER!. I no longer have the same right to replace my wheelchair as other wheelchair users who are allowed to replace their equipment once every 5 yrs if they need to. BUT if you love someone who uses a GROUP 4 Wheelchair they too have lost their equal rights under Medicare now and may not even have enough functioning ability to express how it hurts to have protective features removed or to have a motor moved on an electric wheelchair. Help FIGHT to REMOVE THE IN HOME RESTRICTION POLICY MEDICARE USES TO DENY WHEELCHAIRS and RESTORE GROUP 4 WHEELCHAIR USER PURCHASE RIGHTS!!. MEDICARE RATIONED MINE AWAY ALREADY!! HELP!!
