Its hard work with an English scythe very strenuous on the stomach muscles much prefer the European blade and the home made snath that Chris Riley made for me

  • parden my astounding fucking ignorance, but im pretty sure england is a part of europe...

  • @Vampirepsy *tells stories of the old days, when europe was not called europe but.... were..independed countries... i think... just...nevermind..youget the point....

    scythe is an old tool...

  • isn't England in Europe? O___O

  • @aguineapig

I will give Perry Vienot a look.

  • @AugustusLarch Except, of course, info on the american scythe ;) No wonder nobody uses them, none of them are fitted right for people, and there is a veil over them put in place by the dealers of euro scythes. It's a shame really. Look up Perry Vienot on here, that should establish that the american scythe is a useful tool.

  • know any teachers on how to use a scythe or where i can find the scythe tool around Boise Idaho USA?

  • Looks like he is using too much arm, not enough torso.

  • @AugustusLarch Yep, have to second these comments, but we're all learning every time we do something, greate effort. Thanks for posting the video

  • what you mean "Europian"? There are so many types of scythes in Europe, even within each contries there are varieties according to the geographical and "botanical" conditions or the purpose of the scythe. By the way, great videa, and you work nice!

There's pain from working the muscles and pain from wrenching on the ligaments in the spine. THe former is all part of physical labor. The latter is very avoidable and serious. Wrenching the lumbur region of the spine can cause ligamnet damage and disk trouble. Back surgery is no joke. I am a carpenter as well and am very careful to make the work enviroment and tools 'fit' correctly. I have an awesome scythe and snath from Marugg company. The tool is set wonderfully.
