This is very reminiscent of Skid Row's Slave to the Grind album, which I always thought was the most worthwhile album of the glam metal era.

Phil Anselmo has a fantastic voice for this kind of music. And really, I always thought the way he mixed the falsetto in with his more aggressive sound on Cowboys From Hell was something special. I think dropping it was a mistake. A lot of people can growl angrily. Not many can hit the last note on Cemetary Gates. If you have a unique talent, use it.

@deelee74 well actually heres the thing, in all honesty...not many people CAN growl and scream the way phil did on albums like Far Beyond Driven. Most guys like the lead vocalis from Children of Bodom or Between the Buried and me do a really fake growl/scream. Listen closely and Phil is using his full voice and actually still hitting a lot of pitches with his screams. with that said I still agree with you. What he did on Cowboys was something very unique. Havent heard anyone else do that.

I think Pantera's only good stuff is in that period and in parts of Cowboys. Death to '90s groove metal!
