This is a wild bee hive, I have to collect some time soon. Unfortunately it is the wrong time of yr to move the bees out of the log. Also the farmer wants it to be moved ASAP as he needs the rest of the wood, so I'm going to move it as a whole to my place so I can look after the hive over winter. Then next spring when the time is right I'll crack it open & move the bees to a new hive unless I can get them to move by themselves in early spring.
once a wild hive is felled, you need to pull the combs out within hours, as the small hive beetle will crash a tree hive within a few days. The old days are gone, I'm afraid.
