Actually the son carries on the name of his house from his father. Therefor his name is Kal-el. Only women addopt the name of their farther or husband.

Odd that the movie's depiction took a turn the comics (nor any other medium's depiction did) in that it was Rao that exploded here, not Krypton.
Wonder if that was intended, or if it was a goofup that made it past edit and was decidedly kept?

No, Kandor was the shrunken city. Supergirl was from Argo City.

She is from Argo City, a remaining chunk of Krypton. What little Supergirl: The Movie explained was confusing.

2. Yes her father did. Read the comics.
3. No she doesn't leave Earth. She DIES. Read the Comics.
3a. After a dimensional merger where after the merge in the new timeline where she didn't die, she just NOW lands on Earth.
4. Her home planet is Krypton. Its her CITY, Kandor - capital of Krypton - that was underwater. Read the Comics.
The one we see in Smallville has been hinted to be Brainiac.
