Early in the 1st Darryl Sydor tries to hit Scott Gomez but Gomez' successful attempt to avoid the hit, sends Sydor awkwardly into the boards. What happens afterward is what the Stanley Cup Finals is all about

  • fuckin HERO!!!!

  • @ehdawg16 except thats the case, they don't call it dead if you're in scoring position. like I said, it happened during the playoffs this year to Tim Thomas, it's standard procedure

  • @Edgehead1132 bullshit, a lost goaltender helmet is immediately called dead when noticed. Hockey is bad ass, but that's just fucking retarded.

  • @curti780mikel759 probably because the other team was in scoring position. the refs won't usually blow a whistle in that situation until the team in scoring position loses posession. in the playoffs this year Tim Thomas had his helmet knocked off but still had shots flying at him because the other team was still in control of the puck and in scoring position

  • @curti780mikel759

The whistle didn't blow because his team didn't have control of the puck/play. It's similar the the "injury" during the last 2 minute rule the NFL has. Sydor is hurt, no question, but if you blow the play dead then what's stopping every team from having a "hurt" player hit the ice and flop around in order to stop play and take the heat off?

Had Sydor been in a postion to be hurt further, then the refs would have stopped call by the refs on not stopped the play.

  • One of my fav defensemen of all time. RESPECT

  • thats playoff passion and why the refs didn't blow whistle i don't get it and thats why the fans where booing because hello a players down and hurt! sydor you showed that this is what NHL playoff do to you and your will and lengths you'll go to win!

  • this player deserves an insurmountable amount of respect. thats the most professional play i ive ever seen

  • that must be playoff hockey

  • one word : respect.
