OK, I still prefer The Quick And The Dead (1995) but Wild Bill was more emotional and deep western movie. Jeff Bridges looked brilliant as Bill. It was nice to see Ellen Barkin in not typical for her role. My lovely Diane Lane was great but I think she deserved more screen time. John Hurt and David Arquette did a great job too.
there will never be a great fighting man like hickok again, all the greats are admirable not just hickok and the james boys, billy the kid, butch and sundance, the earps, tilghman, hardin, goodnight and rest, they need to make one more film of wild bill tho like they did with assassination on jesse james, great film tto a great man of the west.
You had to be crazy to face Hickok the only way to get such a Man was to take the cowards way out and shoot him in the back which happen. Jessie Woodson James was another example.

Wonderful depiction of Wild Bill, the ending goes way too far on artistic licence though...

James Butler Hickok was more Gunman than Lawman.
