On September 5, 2010, the Anti-Choice Project (ACP) stood at a busy intersection in Silverdale, Washington to protest the killing of babies by abortion.

In a typical reaction to our 4'x3' signs of first trimester aborted babies, two pro-abortion women, unrelated to each other, approached our volunteers at the same time asserting that men had no right to speak about babies being killed in the womb. In addition, both were upset about their children having to see our signs.

Whether or not it is moral to perform an action that can have both a good effect (here, adults seeing pictures of dead babies) and a bad effect (small children seeing pictures of dead babies) is governed in ethics by the "Principle of Double Effect" (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principle_of_double_effect).

Although the conditions of this ethical principle may sound complicated, all of us apply them frequently. A little boy cuts his hand, and his mother puts an antiseptic on the cut. This action has two effects: it causes the boy pain and it wards off infection. Although the mother may not realize it, she actually used the principle of double effect. She performed an action that was good in itself, that had two effects, one of which was bad (pain).

Though the Anti-Choice Project never intentionally shows small children pictures of abortion, it can be foreseen that our strategy will result in their viewing. Employing the criteria of the Principle of Double Effect, we have weighed the "bad effect" against the "good effect" and, since the graphic images change minds, have come to the conclusion that the lives saved from a torturous death matter more than the feelings and emotions of born children.

  • Whoever the Hell this guy is recording htis video, I applaud you my friend. These two women get in your face and yell at you and you keep calm. I respect that a great deal :)

  • @TheHolyScout 'Wait untill you want to have kids'...Wouldn't it be great if everyone acted the way we wished them to? Abortion doesn't cause breast cancer, and anti aborts aren't against abortion because of that claim anyway. There's a few countries in the world where abortions not legal(Iran,Pakistan,U.A.E,Malta) There's just as many abortions in those countries as in countries where it's legal. Anti abortion laws don't stop abortion. They just make women risk death to have one(70,000per year)

  • @TheHolyScout A Zygote or fetus does not equal a child. A child has already been born.

  • The biblical god is not pro-life. In fact, he has killed millions of people if you believe the texts. Also, scripture points to instances when life is said to begin upon the first breath, or even only after a month of being alive. There is scripture that speaks of the consequences of harming a mother to be as well. If the unborn dies, a fine is to be paid if the father demands it. But only if the would-be mother is killed is there is a real problem. The biblical god is NOT pro-life.

  • @PolishSk1ll I think you'll find yourself ignorant of the facts, not I. Spend sometime researching why we believe abortion is a woman's right. Realize that your religious text says nothing about abortion. If god is your only reason to oppose it then you're deluded.

  • @MeepullStewray God loves you, and loves the unborn. Hopefully you'll find the truth in your life and stop the murder. I can't argue with ignorance but I think you'll get the point.

  • While the children having seen the pictures really is a horrible thing, he does have a point. Which is better, upset children or dead children? Abortion is wrong, it is evil, and there is proof that abortion helps cause Breast Cancer. As for the top two comments, oppose this cause if you want. You don't see us getting on here and cursing in a comment that, when you take away the cursing, has absolutely no value to it. You speak of choice, then use your choice and wait until you want to have kids

  • Now that's a police officer doing his job well :)

  • You justify your protests and pictures by the Double Effect, but abortion can be justified by the Double Effect as well... And the fact that you're showing these disgusting pictures is horrible. The cameraman said himself that he would never intentionally show those same pictures to their own children, so why would you just show them in public? Women who are considering abortion are already going through a lot of stress, stop putting more stress on them.

  • I wonder what the status of abortion would be if we had artificial wombs and the capability to transfer a fetus safely from mother to artificial womb. Just saying.
