In this final segment, Shigeko talks about meeting Norman Cousins and her trip to America. At Mount Zion hospital, NY she receives many reconstructive surgeries as do all the other Hiroshima Maidens, and she regains a face. Common people actually paid for that --and volunteer doctors did the work. This is the nature of compassion. Finally Shigeko Sasamori delivers her impassioned plea for a world free of nuclear weapons and free from war.

  • @Exagerative Just so you know, "stupider" isn't a word. But "proofread" and "asshole" are.

  • She had a healthy child, that's great news 6:30 More info on her survival story is here : www2[DOT]wilmington[DOT]edu/prc/Stories-of-Hope-Hiroshima-Maidens-N1[DOT]cfm The name of this film I believe is Conversation with a Survivor.

  • @Exagerative

I sympathise with this woman but she is wrong, Nuclear weapons have and do make peace, more people would have died in the Invasion of japan than all those that died from Hiroshima & Nagasaki, that is Millions of deaths not the hundreds of thousands from the 2 bombs. Nuclear weapons are also the only means to divert an asteroid larger than 5 kilometres. look it up yourself. As abhorrent as it might sound, the truth is it would have been immoral not to drop the bombs.

  • What do you mean you admire the wit and intelligence of this lady.. Americans I don't know why you expect everyone to live in dust huts and eat soil. Also.. She probably knows more geography than most of the US population combined. I'd be surprised If you didn't think Nagasaki was in canada, or it's a conspiracy or something. Just don't talk you look fucking stupider than you already are

  • We learned about this in my US History class and I wondered what the people of Hiroshima and Nagasaki went through, This was very informative and it's made me think. I loved watching it. I'm even puting of studying for it. Thanks.

  • I enjoy watching this and I admired the wit and intelligence of this lady! thanks for sharing kanseki ! she has the hope and forgiveness in her heart even she became a victim of atomic bomb. God has a better plan for her. I want to nominate Ms Shigeko to become an ambassador of Japan to U.N.

  • I enjoyed that very much and thank you for sharing it.
