The first thing all tennis professionals do when they hit a forehand is pivot and turn their shoulders. This motion is how you start your forehand and you have to do it every single time you hit the shot. A key concept to take away from this video lesson is that the pivot and shoulder turn starts your tennis racket backswing by virtue of your shoulder turn. Your arms SHOULD NOT be doing the work to get the racket back at this point in the forehand.

  • im 5ft 10 is it good for Tennis?

  • Hey Will, I was wondering. Since you said to not use your arms to take the racket back. Does that mean that you should not use your arms to take the racket forward on your swing?

  • hes right about the open stance. but when your in a squared stance, you want to close your hips and your shoulders...not only your shoulders

  • I'm wondering why you don't mention knee bending in all the videos and you don't do a lot yourself. Is it less important in "modern" technique? I used to learn that knee bending is the most important thing in all the shots (but it didn't help a lot ;))

  • Very Good 5/5...Will, you should somehow allow the viewer to see the next vid in the series by just clicking a next icon or something like that. Searching all the vids to the right is confusing / time-consuming. Prob just a Youtube thing tho.

  • I play this guy and I hit ever shot i can find, drop shot, slice, flat, spin anything but if I go aggressive likely to hit the out and he returns almost everything. It upsets me. This guy I play is never off balanced. I think I am afraid of missed and most balls go way over the net. How many inches I suppose to try to hit over the net? I also think that I should hit the ball early to make him off balanced. Is there a video that can help me beat this guy.

  • this viedo is too good i learn so many things from this viedos. plz in future also provide this type of viedos ROHIT MALIK

  • lol gael monfills the hardest forehands
