  • loved the graphics in this game.. but it was ultimately a stupid maze??

  • @earx23 the maze in this game was dificult but more due to the passage of time.

  • My apologies for such an awful ending. If I ever re-write this, I'll do the whole thing properly!

  • a lot of walking..at the end poor ending...it always means for me a lack of respect for gamers...lazy programists..

  • With respect, I think it's a little harsh to call me lazy. The game was £2.99 and reviewed fairly well. Most games in those days had poor endings. One of the greatest games of the era, Jet Set Willy, didn't even have an ending unless you fixed the bug, and even then, the ending was average. The Ultimate games of the time also had static screens, hinting at future titles. That's what I based my ending on.

  • yea... you are right...sorry, it was ironic a little, i liked this game, i guess it was one of better games in '80

  • There is Bach Invention 8 F major in "Chimera Pause Mode"

  • @thorgallpl Yes, you're right. I was by no means a Pokey expert. I was much more interested in Antic and GTIA. I went two channel because four channel was so badly out of tune and I couldn't bear to hear it. Still, it could have been a lot better!

  • @shahidkamal

check out the enhanced version Chimera reloaded W.I.P. for Atari XL / XE 2011

pokey was inferior to sid but could do much more than this;)

  • @shahidkamal Really? Wow! Well, an ending like you say would be cool. Can't remember the exact plot of this but something to do with a robot assembling a missile on a spaceship? I remember the C64 title screen. Maybe I'd like to see a 3D version and a save option like in modern games. Old games drove you nuts because you played them for hours only to die. AAAGGH!

  • @dreamcastII The C64 had the incomparable SID chip, which was wonderful for music. The Atari had a much simpler chip set, which was good for SFX, but not so good for music. Rob Hubbard did the music for the C64 version. I asked him to do something with fretless bass. As usual, he was up to the challenge!

  • @wandererlain There might be a remake this year! What would you like to see in a new version? Which platforms?

  • @shahidkamal I thought this was strange but impressive when I saw it as a kid, especially the C64 version. And the music was fab! Maybe they'll be a retro remake of it some day...
