I was one of those people that didn't know this movie exists... and what a true gem it is. Better late than never, though. I saw this film in 1981 when it was in original release -- my friends and I saw it several times subsequently -- it captured something about that time that I still hold dear -- few films combine sentiment and adventure so well -- a certain maturity lacking in 'Raiders of the Lost Ark,' also from that year.
