As the second part of this Discover Folkestone 2010 series, June 10-13 saw the Town Centre Management team presenting yet another superb collection of events, with Chris Kirkham of Discover Folkestone acting as MC supported by Town centre Manager John Barber.

The varied acts included a wonderful Chinese Lion dance from the Kwang Ngei Lion Dance team together with their traditional ladies chinese dance team.
The Lyra Greek dancers and Cossak Show dancers each gave a great performance as did the Cinque ports Lindy Hoppers. Jungnubhangra and Kaago performed with drums, dancing and acrobatics.
Folkestone based singer Louise Orfila sung a selection of songs written by herself and cover songs.
CJ's Dance and Fitness School, pupils of the Kent Chinese School and a Bollywood dance show with Equator/ShivaNova and school children also performed.

Many other acts and events took place around the Town, at the Quarterhouse and Coastal Park. A superb 4 day event. Check out the festival website http://www.folkestonefestival.org for the next event as well as all Shepway Tourism information at http://www.discoverfolkestone.co.uk

  • liked both videos, visited the town, the weather was great, had fabulous curry, and the leas and the gardens at the bottom were excellent, sadly what spoilt it for me was talking to the locals, my daughter being offered "drugs" by a Iraqi or Afghan youth and having my car broken into by a group of immigrants near the harbour!

  • @factorialpython

thanks for your comments and I am truly saddened your day was spoilt by other visitors to the Town.

The harbour is the last part of the Town due for redevelopment in the next year and will hopefully improve as a result. Your comments will be passed on.

    Best regards

    CJ

  • @cjb12121 surprised to get a reply, thank you, my family thought folkestone could offer more and had(has) huge potential Best of luck to you and all your friends in you endeavors. my observation are that folkestone has now "aim" dwelling, like so many other towns on its past, Folkestone needs to have pride in its self, to become a niche town leaning more towards the luxury market, those with disposable income whom wish to "play"

  • @factorialpython

your interest in the Town is most welcome. Be assured your experience has been flagged to those who do care.

    Regards

    CJ

    Thanks,

Had I thought i should have kept back the pt1 version for a week to include the festival, but it was a worthwhile venue on its own account. Some really good acts on the day. Folkestone is not boring.. only boring people get bored !!

    Cheers

    CJ

  • Hey CJ, that was quick!

Another great video. At this rate you will put Folkestone on the map?

  • @ChrisKirkham

Thanks Chris... I enjoyed every moment.
