Dick Todd - Daddy's Little Girl (1950)

Charted at #11 in Billboard in January 1950. This is one of the rarest versions of this favorite. Dick Todd was known as "The Canadian Crosby" and his biggest hits were in the late 1930's and early 1940's. This recording gave him a brief comeback to the Billboard charts. He would chart one more time on the pop chart at #17 with "Till I Waltz Again With You" in March 1953 and did not chart again, except for one placing on the Country chart at #52 with "Big Wheel Cannonball" in 1967, one of his last known recordings. Once a very popular performer, he sadly faded into obscurity, becoming a circus roustabout, and later a stagehand. For many years, no one knew what happened to him, although it is known that he battled chronic alcoholism and debilitating arthritis. Some say he drank to deal with the pain from his arthritis. It is thought that he became homeless and died in the mid-1970's.

This song was also #5 for the Mills Brothers in February 1950 and #42 for Al Martino in January 1967 (#2 Adult Contempoary).
