I grew up in a Swedish church that was started in 1881 in Muskegon, Michigan. By the time I attended in the 50's and 60's, services were in English. However, I have fond memories of several hymns begin sung as specials in Swedish. Day by Day, He the Pearly Gates will open, Thanks to God, and perhaps other hymns. I agree with karpov89 about the original lyrics sung in Swedish.

I don't tolerate horrendous renditions of a song that in modern culture is best associated with Greg Focker

You mean the song from Godspell?
Please don't insult it by referring to it as "the meet the parents song." But at any rate, you'll find it in any Godspell cast album. Steven Schwartz is the composer.
