After four unsuccessful tries, Ace Walker now holds the Winnipeg Goldeyes record for most wins in franchise history.

Walker pitched a complete game to pick up his 37th win in a Goldeyes uniform Monday night, as Winnipeg demolished the St. Paul Saints 15-2 before 5,021 fans at Shaw Park.

With the win, Walker passes Rafael Gross for sole possession of the record.

The Goldeyes struck for three runs in the first, two in the second and then posted a monstrous seven-run third inning to take a 12-0 lead. In all, Winnipeg tallied 15 hits in the first three innings, including nine extra-base hits. The four doubles Winnipeg hit in the third inning tied a team record.

St. Paul got on the board with a single in the sixth inning, but Brian Myrow hit a two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning to extend the lead to 14-1. The Saints scored once in the eighth, but Ridge Carpenter hit his first career home run in the bottom of the inning for Winnipeg.

In addition to Carpenter, Price Kendall and Fehlandt Lentini also hit home runs in the game. That trio also had three hits in the game. Myrow had four RBI in the contest, while Jon Weber, Lentini and Carpenter chipped in with three RBI each.

Walker tossed 95 pitches, including 70 for strikes, in the complete game win, which is his ninth victory of the season. For St. Paul, Donald Brandt lasted just two innings in the loss. He gave up 10 runs, including five in the third before he was pulled with no one out.

Aside from Walker's record-breaking performance, the win is huge for Winnipeg in the standings. The Goldeyes move three games up on St. Paul for first place in the North Division.

The Goldeyes and Saints will play the middle game of the series tomorrow night at Shaw Park. Game time is 7 p.m. All the action can be heard on Sports Radio 1290, beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30 p.m.
