Due to the warm weather today, the giraffes at Brookfield Zoo were given access to their outdoor habitat this afternoon. Normally the giraffes would be indoors this time of year as the outdoor temperatures need to be around 45-50°F for them to have access outside. At first the giraffes peeked outside and then came out and stretched their legs running around for a few moments. Afterwards, they began eating their hay and just seemed to enjoy the spring weather and being outdoors just like the zoo guests. (The African wild dogs were surprised to see them also!) The herd includes Mithra (21), Franny (20) and her 5-year-old daughter, Arnieta; Jasiri, a 6-year-old female; and Hasani, a 3-year-old male.
Awesome!! I love this.
