The Tichenor family playing the 1918 composition "Smiles" by Callahan & Roberts. Patriarch Trebor Tichenor of the famed St Louis Ragtimers is one of the world's most preeminant sheet music collectors and authorities on ragtime. Appearing with him here is his son Andy on trumpet and his daughter Virginia on drums. Also appearing is Andy's wife Susanna on violin as well as Virginia's husband Marty Eggers on tuba. Marty and Virginia now reside in the San Francisco/Oakland area and are active organizers of the West Coast Ragtime Society. They are also both accomplished ragtime piano players, although Marty is more often seen playing the upright bass.

  • Very good period style! The music would be right at home on an Edison Disc record.
