It is not a Kaida, it is a Laggi, and they're different ways of playing it: Sajjad Saheb is playing repetitions of Dhaghe tikna naghe tikdha, where "tik", as a literal "tick", is played as a closed "na". That example is composed in Keherwa or Teentaal (this is in Rupak Taal), so depending on the taal you play it in is where you can experiment with your bayan. he is an amazing tabla player. I met him when he was playing with imtiaz ali riyaz ali. he plays pure punjab style tabla. amazing guy
