AIP's hard to find and out of print BLACK SABBATH (1963), directed by Mario Bava! The American edit of this classic Italian anthology film was re-scored by Les Baxter, the three vignettes were re-sequenced, and different narratives by Boris Karloff were added.

Segment one, The Drop of Water.

  • Of the hundreds of horror movies I've seen in my 28 years, this has to be one of the creepiest!

  • I have to say after seeing this 35 years later,I pictured the old woman much creepier.

though it's still good.what's realling chilling is the high pitch sounds being made as she's about to open the door.and her reaction is priceless! HAIL CLASSIC HORROR!!

  • @Oceabrz

Yea...she had Jack Nicholson's face as the joker beat out on WEIRD FACES! LOL

  • @tapeduk this one is my favorite too! that face is so creepy.

  • I don't quite understand what the fly represented.

  • lol. I'm happy to be watching this movie again! I was thinking about it the other day and couldn't remember the full name other than it started with "Black" something..

I was born in 1957, but I don't remember how old I was when I first saw this movie; I do remember how that old lady's face scared the hell out of me! lol

I am watching it again,.now, for the first time since. I wonder if it will have the same effect. Thanks for sharing! :)

I watched "The Lady in a Cage" yesterday. :)

  • It's no wonder Qzzy named his band (and first song and album) after this movie. VERY gothic!

  • That light going on & off adds a real creppy atmosphere to things...

  • I just love a woman with blue eyes.....

  • @lobbotekka2019 I was exagerating of course.but like I said, that's just me.there would be no distraction.just more shocking and horrible even today.and then again all it would have taken was that fly to land on her face and lay eggs and you have maggot mania.but I am thinking ahead of the times so let's just keep it as is.I'm still satisfied.

  • @hostilerampage

I actually like it like this. It looks unique. Crawling maggots would have been unrealistic (she had only been dead a few hours) and also it would have distracted us from the horror on her face from her death.
