In what world is 5 min. quite a while? You seem to be the only one with a problem that the fire fighters/ medics who serve you and are there in a time of emergency are taking advantage of their right to vote. Theres only one time you can vote and god forbid it happened on the 24 hour shift they pull. last year there was a day when delhi had 20 calls on one shift. thats about 1 an hour. they need to take the ambulance with them everywhere on shift in case they get another call.

Why don't you mind your own business instead of "bird dogging" every employee of the township "wasting" "your" tax dollars. I see more of a safety hazard with you running around with a camera in your hand while driving...good thing that wasnt a cop you harrased. asshole

Eating could also be considered 'personal business' and so also sleeping! Maybe even taking a crap or running into the bathroom to take a piss (with the engine running of course)? Can they not do any of this either while 'on duty'? All of these are VERY personal business and I dare say more so than voting, which affects public issues in case you didn't know. Hopefully they were voting to kick people like you off the 'island'. Have a nice day. :-)

Of course heath concerns from exhaust emisions should be considered also. TCSS. I had my partner run into a gas station a few times to use the restroom or to pick up supplies. There only time it gets shut off is when certain patients are getting unloaded or putting the ambulance back in the station. Delhi isn't the only station that does this every department that I worked with does this.

Most engine wear happens during it's warm up phase. Because a diesel engine needs compression for combustion, it's constuction is heavy duty, meaning it's cylinder walls are thick. That thickness absorbs more heat leading to cooler running temperatures and more time to reach optium heat levels which adds to engine wear, especailly in colder climates.

That's hardly personal. They kept it running so they could leave on a call at the drop of a dime. Complain about something realistic. Look at our "rainy day" fund and how little of that schools need, or how the road construction is going. I'm sorry you feel they were doing something wrong by being ready to work and voting when they had a moment

and that is not uncommon for fire/ems departments to do. your complaint is a moot point. sorry....you should have supported your volunteer fire fighters/ems peeps when you had the opportunity. this..ma'am is progress. they did nothing out of the ordinary from most fire/ems depts and they did nothing wrong or costly.

Okay..in all fairness someone needs to tell you all that these kids work 24/7 shifts most often. So when would you like them to vote? They are required to stand ready to serve...calling someone to come in and cover them while they go exercise their right to vote would cost more than what it costs to leave his rig running while he's waiting for five minutes or more....and fyi...they ususally run about 20 hours a day anyway...going to calls or lunches or dinners or breakfasts within the township
BUSTED?? YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!!! you obviously have no idea how emergency services work. and voting is not personal buisness. BTW that's an ambulance and they are firefighter/medics. but of course you dont know that because all you care about is harassing them. they did nothing wrong. its people like you that make our job harder than it is by harassing us with trivial and meaningless questions and comments. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!!!! if your so worried about them wasting fuel dont call 911!!!!

I am a Firefighter/EMT for Lansing Fire department, the best way to explain is In most cases, an often used, diesel powered emergency vehicle should be kept running, or at least run every few hours. The first reason is that "a failure to start problem" now doesn't exist and you're off and running to the scene Other reasons include keeping the batteries charged when electrical power is needed during idling and keeping the engine near or at operating temperature.
