The well-meaning catholic priest Gabriel (Andrés Parra) makes one mistake after another when he moves to a community in the Colombian backcountry. He insists on having a tumbledown bridge repaired, convinced that it will enable the inhabitants to sell their products in the town. The effect is that the army then uses it to reach rebel territory in the mountains Accentuated with amusing counterpoints, the film contains the central themes of Latin American cinema: church, army and rebellion.
