Ivan is so happy to have found the love of his life Chris. Despite their distance from each other at times, they have a beautiful relationship, and Ivan will often drive 'all night' to be in the arms of his lover. When Ivan adopts a baby girl, Hannah, he is sure Chris will be thrilled to have a family with him, but he is sadly mistaken. When Chris turns a blind eye to Hannah, and promptly dumps Ivan when they discuss the situation, Ivan is devastated. Heartbroken, and with his mind focused on trying to think of a way to win back Chris, Ivan wanders away and accidentally sets his kitchen on fire when he is cooking waffles for his daughter, and ends up dying, leaving Hannah to grow up without her father.
