I have a herniated disc in my lower back and pilates has definitely helped the situation a lot by strengthening my core. I started off doing less intense workouts than this one though, since almost everything hurt at first when I'd just injured my back. If you want to try more intense stuff I'd suggest being cautious and doing the exercises slowly at first to avoid any sudden pain.
