Did not chart on Billboard, but released as a single in October 1955. His real name was Fritz Schulz-Reichel and he was very popular in Germany for many years. His two chart entries in the U.S. were "Glad Rag Doll" and Smiles", both sides of the same single, in 1955. "If You Knew Susie" was a #1 hit for Eddie Cantor in 1925..

  • Great post. And great rendition of the Eddie Cantor classic. Al Jolson introduced this song in 1925 in the hit Broadway show Big Boy and decided he didn't like it and gave it to Cantor. When it became a tremendous hit for Eddie, Al told him if he knew it was gonna be that big a success, he would have kept it for himself.

  • maravilloso!

  • @sturdleyburdeux Thanks Sturdley!

Wow, sounds like you've been to some great shows! I knew someone once who saw Jimi Hendrix nine times! And someone else who used to hang out with JFK! And just the other day someone who spent hours, and hours on a film set with a fellow who turned out to be Tim Rice (now Sir Tim Rice!)

Re Otto's finger, isn't it interesting how how some people don't let anything get in their way; we should all be inspired by this.

All the best from Brisbane, Australia!

  • @Stevieraylittlewing Hmm .. just read what I wrote .. "someething!" .. I meant "something" .. Otto made my spelling crazy!!!

  • @Stevieraylittlewing : hope you have fun with that. While observing Crazy Otto performing in Weisbaden in 1959, I noticed he was missing a finger on one hand; the left ring fingerI believe, two knuckles back from the tip. It did not bother his play however. A good entertainer.

  • @sturdleyburdeux Thank you! (You learn someething new everyday! Looking forward to trying this!)

  • You can put a comb between the strings on a grand and get the ricky-tick tinny sound of the old time pianos. I saw Crazy Otto do it in Weisbaden. It should be placed in the higher register of course. You're welcome.

  • can any one tell me what tipsy wire box looks like he used one
