Slash is a two minute penalty. Watch that video on youtube. Tell me when he was pushing the 'perp' in the chest with both hands then skating to the Canadian bench to talk crap... and then, 'oh' grabbing his ankle (broken) then coming back after one game - that it's a broken ankle... and it some how cost the USSR the series? Please.

the games are more violent now than they were back then. the reason it seemed dirtier then is because they had less protection so it was easier to get hurt or killed than it is now.
Canadian players of those days were better then too because few players made a living from playing hockey alone, most had a second job, but nowadays everyone goes into hockey with hopes of striking it rich, unlike back then when it was about being passionate about the sport.

bobby hull was there for the 74 summit series and lost, but there were a few other players even better than those in the summit series' that could have turned the game. there should have been a 76 summit series for best out of 3.

wow I wished I had been alive to see that. it is not as suspenseful when you know what is going to happen.

you should have mentioned Clarke was the last player selected for team Canada and if other players like orr had been allowed to play, Clarke wouldn't have been there for the slash.
I admit Clarke was a good player overall but I found he was also a thug. I don't mind aggressive plays but certain moves such as what Clarke did to me is going over the line.

so I guess then according to your comment kharlamov is the only reason the Russians were superior? always coming up with excuses eh? just so you know most of our players were considered second rate players, many were in fact still rookies at the time. our top players like orr were not allowed in the series because of the rules of player selection. (in case you don't know, orr is that guy who jumped in the air when scoring and winning the Stanley cup in overtime.)

the slash was in game 6. but don't feel too bad because the Russians were doing cheap shots too and were intentionally giving the Canadian players bad food while feeding their players with top notch food and bad referees.
there needs to be a Canadian vs Russia summit series every year just to see which team is better overall.

players in those days were probably more passionate than today. in those days people became players because they wanted to. now it is all about the money. even the best players in those days were not any richer than a high average individual. most players before the 60's were so poor they even had to work a second job just to break even and yet most of our legendary players are from that era.
