I would be grateful if someone could give me a clue on which CD (could be a compliation) I can find this song.

Lyrics:

Delta Queen, honey honey, where you been?
Delta Queen, honey honey, where you been? ....

Tell me mister have you seen
The girl they call the Delta Queen
in New Orleans - honey honey

He said, I know the girl you mean
She's singing at the Delta Queen
down seventeen - honey honey

And when I saw her there,
silver gaslight on her hair
I didn't mind the smoky room
or the smell of stale perfume

I only know that she's
a fallen angel on her knees
A woman tired of being alone,
the one that I'm now taking home, oh

Delta Queen, honey honey, where you been?
Delta Queen, honey honey, where you been?

She left her home in Baton Rouge
She only had one pair of shoes,
what could she lose - honey honey

The time had come for her to chose
Between the good life and the blues,
what could she lose - honey honey

I only know that she's
a fallen angel on her knees
A woman tired of being alone,
the one that I'm now taking home, oh

Delta Queen, honey honey, where you been?
Delta Queen, honey honey, where you been?

  • ¡¡¡Temazo!!!

  • Fantastic, I'm back to my 70's souvenirs !!! Thnx for it. I'am happy now

  • That's a wonderfull song, thank you so much for your post. I can't find anything else by the same band.

    This is kick ass though.

Reminds me of fairy tales, where girl escapes home and faces tough world to find him...

  • Thanks for posting this - I remember it from when I was a kid and it was on a "20 Happening Hits" record or something similar. The lyrics I found for it say they're by Ricky Shayne (pseudonym for a Lebanese/Egyptian performer more famous for "Mammy Blue" and currently living in Germany) and there's a live version of him singing it in German on Youtube as well.
