En el Parque de la Paz de Hiroshima fue construida la estatua dedicada a Sadako en 1958, en la base está escrito "Éste es nuestro grito, ésta es nuestra plegaria; paz en el mundo". La historia fue tan impactante que trascendió los límites de Japón, convirtiéndose en un referente mundial de los movimientos pacifistas.
Cada año, para el 6 de agosto, Día de la Paz, llegan miles de grullas de papel a Hiroshima, desde los puntos más alejados del planeta. Los niños de la ciudad cuelgan las grullas en el monumento de Sadako, con la esperanza de transmitir este mensaje a todo el mundo.

In the Peace Park in Hiroshima was built a statue dedicated to Sadako in 1958, the base is written "This is our cry, this is our prayer, peace in the world." The story was so shocking that transcended the boundaries of Japan, becoming a world leader in peace movements.
Every year for the August 6, Peace Day, thousands of paper cranes to Hiroshima, from the most remote planet. Children from the city hanging cranes at the monument to Sadako, hoping to convey this message to everyone.

  • she was only 2 when the bomb hit Hiroshima and ten years later the defects of the raditation made her have leukemia...making her die in a bed full of paper cranes

  • she didn't die of leukemia....she died cause of high radiation effects...she was blind...
