@thecollguy I agree about minimalism but it isn't necessary to put down conventional song structures like love ballads and it's certainly not accurate that they "patronise the listener". If you allow yourself to feel patronised by a piece of music, the issues lie within yourself. There is a difference between art that evokes clear, definite emotions and art that tells you what to feel. You're acting as though coherency is some form of propaganda.

@rappersfriend: I find this music very emotional...

I agree with userhasbeendeleted. It's just experimentation. That's not an insult, so I don't know why you are getting offended, wanabeknut1. Anyways, I wasn't able to find any sources saying that Terry Riley invented tape echo. Can you list your sources?

@userhasbeendeleted do your fucking research before you post. This is the dude who invented tape echo. You should prais him.

..Chet Baker revisited by Terry Riley I guess ?
-
It's just experimentation without any emotional or meaningful musical idea.
-
Well, I think it's real crazy, but it's brilliant.

The trumpet Chet Baker and his quartet looped and electronically rearranged by TR and was composed for Ken Dewey's play THE GIFT in Paris 1963!

@userhasbeendeleted You don't understand minimalism, it's thought provoking. There is emotion but unlike love ballads or whatever you listen to, it doesn't patronise the listener by imposing its own emotion upon them, it expects its audience won't be so stupid they need to be told what to feel. Listen again but this time open your mind and you will feel something. And it's powerful!
