@omfggoogle lol then you should study some more,
even though cannon has 1080 it still lacks a lot in the more photocamera parts like
flash lighting, Nikon has a system that uses its flash to wirelessly communicate withother non attached flashlights. (2 way communication even).
also MP's aren't everything, its most important to have good colour/sharpness/light performance with the MP's that you do have
Often most lenses tend to blur out anyways at those magnification levels
due to lens errors.

@rvdm88 Get real Cannon 550 d, 60 d and 7d all have 18 MP and 1080 Full HD. I only started looking at cameras 1 day ago and I know this.

True, maybe, but the FullHD "video" feature wasnt invented in the 60's but around 2 years back, (the d300s model is from juli "09) also those "FullHD" compact cameras you talk about (like the flip, small cam's or bloggie) actually rip you off by extrapolating pixels and having horrible artifacts at terrible fps's and with poor lowlight performance.
In This this cam the 720p are all composed of pixels that are lighted in the best way, and by pieces of glass costing hunderds or thousands of euros.

@rvdm88 Be happy this shoots vids? lol, wtf, are we living in the fuckin 1960s or what? Mate if I am going to buy a product that nearly costs 2 grand than I fuckin expect Full HD, I mean cameras in the lower range can bloody shoot 720p so why not a camera that costs 1 grand more? The producers have the technology to fit the camera with Full HD, its just there too bloody lazy to fuckin do it.

its a D-SLR camera with 12.3 MP that happens to be able to shoot vid's, be happy it can shoot vid's at all

compared to its competitor the 7d, the d300s is better in iso and that matters more to most than video
