Injector blasting with small gear like this in a totally open space its fine. It is another thing alltogether with large pressure pots on big jobs where the dust keeps in the air. Yes i`ve been blasting for some time, i normally blast in a booth with a portable breathe air system. I got respect for the high silica content sand and avoid inhaling whenever possible.

If you value your health(or your employes) you should use an air fed helmet with min. grade D breathing air! No mater what the media is. Silica sand is the worst, but its not just the media its what you are blasting off too.(rust/mill scale ect..)
