For a period in 1962 and 1963 Gladys Knight came off the road to take care of her first child, The Pips, Bubba, Edward and William put out a few singles with out her, including this good remake of Jesse Belvin's Goodnight My Love, it would be another 13 years before they did another record without Gladys

  • Nice you got there from the Pips. I love those Geico commericals with the Pips and Peter Frampton the best!!

Do you have that single the Four Tops did for Columbia around the time Sugar Pie Honey Bunch came out? That one tick Berry Gordy off to put a quickie single out from Motown! Would love to hear that!

  • Do you mean "Pennies From Heaven"? that was originally released in 1960, and then Columbia re-released it, when I Can't Help Myself went to number 1, and yeah it pissed off Gordy, he cancelled Motown's contract with Columbia's pressing plants because of that

  • @Wehategod that's all of them

  • Motown Is this Bubba, Edward, or William on Lead vocals?

  • Do You Have : I Love You" by The Pips?

  • that unbeliebable nostalgia sound of those lps is so divine

  • BTW, the label he playing off from is the Oldies 45 label, which is Vee-Jay's oldies label (Much like Motown's own Motown Yesterday label).

  • I know it was exactly Motown, because of one of your previous vids like "Love Shooting Bandit" by Mary Wells on the Jubilee label and Tammy Montgomery's "I Cried" before she became Tammi Terrell on the Try Me label.

This is the version I've never heard of before. It was Jesse Belvin's "Goodnight My Love". There were other versions of that song Paul Anka sang that song in 1968 and of course the version done by Tavares in 1977. A bunch of artists covered their version of "Goodnight My Love".
