Israel is the only state in the world today, and the Jews the only people in the world today, that are the object of a standing set of threats from governmental, religious, and terrorist bodies seeking their destruction. And what is most disturbing is the silence, the indifference, and sometimes even the indulgence, in the face of such genocidal anti-Semitism.

That's some provocative rhetoric you've got there, inforevolution, but it's just not true. Unless of course you believe that Israel is the only state and Jews the only people. Jews don't have a monopoly on persecution and saying so doesn't make a person an anti-Semite. On every continent there are non-Jews who face the very same threats you describe. Darfur, Zimbabwe, Iran, Honduras and Austria spring immediately to mind. Sadly, often those people are not as well armed or financed as the IDF.

Hamas does not have control of the West Bank so Israel has free reign there. Israel is confiscating land, evicting their owners and building Jewish only settlements there.

The most notorious example was a mistranslation of Ahmadinejad. He is widely mis-quoted as saying that Israel should be "wiped off the map" when in fact he said Israeli REGIME must be removed from the pages of history (or time)"--just as the Stalinist regimes have been removed from the pages of the history. The word "map" was not in his speech.

Do you remember, On June 8, 1967, US Navy intelligence ship USS Liberty was suddenly and brutally attacked on the high seas in international waters by the air and naval forces of Israel. The Israeli forces attacked with full knowledge that this was an American ship and lied about it. Survivors have been forbidden for 43 years to tell their story under oath to the American public. The USS Liberty Memorial web site tells their story and is dedicated to the memory of the 34 brave men who died.

hamas started with homemade rockets but after israel cleared gaza in 2005 they started brining in heavy rockets like the ones hezbolla have (Grad rockets).

that's why they were able to reach distant cities in israel like Ber Sheva and Ashdod. they could never do that with weak homemade rockets.

israel knows the type of rockets that fell on their cities and those rockets came from iran and syria to gaza by ships and through egypt.

israel cleared gaza completely. there was no siege. and israel was supplying everything to gaza.

people could go in and out of gaza through egypt. that's how the hamas leaders could easily travel in the arab world and back, and many hezbollah experts went into gaza, and hamas was able to train and arm themselves like they could never do before.

but the moment they started attacking israel again israel besieged them to stop it.

Hamas took control in 2007. So Israel had blockaded before, during and after Hamas taking control, never allowing them a moment to breathe. In addition, Israel fired rockets and missiles into Gaza. In retaliation, Gazans fired comparatively harmless bottle rockets into land which was taken over by Israel.

The Rafeh crossing is controlled by Israel which retains the right to close it down should it wish to do so.

Now Israel has moved into International piracy and kidnapping.

why do you think the siege started?

maybe it has something to do with Hamas firing thousands of rockets on israeli cities, and attacking the very same passageways through which israel was delivering supplies.

do you know that gaza has a border with egypt. why are you not blaming egypt for the siege on gaza?

Israel always blockaded Gaza and denied them sufficient food and medicine. Just a few days ago, Israel committed an act of Piracy and Kidnapping in International waters of a ship carrying food and medicine for Gazans.

And in the West Bank, Israel continues land confiscation, eviction and settlement building.
