The "Desert Wind", the now defunct train that ran from Salt Lake City, UT to Los Angeles, CA via Las Vegas, NV is seen here in the summer of 1995 between Farrier and Moapa, NV.
@Trainking922 Budget cuts and low ridership. Though honestly, in 1997 there were other routes in Amtrak's system that could've been eliminated instead.
This reminds me of when I came from England on holiday in August 1982, and travelled on the Desert Wind from Chicago to Los Angeles. A long time ago, but a memorable journey.
I really miss this train with the Pepsi Units and this Train. This was the only Train that ran the Cajon Pass in the Daylight. Rather it was late or on time. And I also miss the crews that worked this Train as well. Thanks for recording this great train. Have any more videos of this Train?
@ 0:29 is that a Pass/Baggage?

Why did this train stop?

@kh2nerd806 For much of its life, it did only run with one locomotive and no baggage car.

There's the speedy High Desert passenger train clip I was looking for. Great to see this train with a decent sized make-up before "the end"
