Chinese food has become a staple takeaway meal, and why not? It's fantasically delicious! Levi Roots joins us in the kitchen to cook our sesame prawn toast recipe, which is smothered with prawns and served with a fresh, zingy beansprout salad. This will beat the Chinese takeaway every time!

  • Just wondering, where did you learn to cook so well Mr. Ebbrell? And how did you guys meet?

  • @KebletAlpacaFarm we're all friends from school! I've worked in restaurants for years, and studied Culinary Arts Management at UCB in Birmingham!

  • @sortedfood :O

That means I could've met you! But i'm guessing you didn't establish SortedFood until after you completed your course? :(

  • @SSJNessy Ah no! We started it whilst I was still at uni!

  • can I change the shrimp for chicken or pork instead?

  • @alvakaren1 yup, as we mention in the video - it works really well with chicken or pork!

  • @williamwzl Ginger soy and garlic are favorites in Chinese cooking. Honey and ginger mixed up into a sauce is a good flavoring pair. Though I think that the Thai Pot Noodle had a good summary of Asian cooking: sweet, spicy, sour, and savory.

  • I really enjoyed Levi in this Sorted...definitely one of your best guests! :)

  • Ginger and Soy sauce makes things chinese food. loooool

Not hating though, I tried it making this and it tasted amazing.

  • Well, this is not a traditional Chinese food, but it is absolutely great (^.^)v

  • Ahh bless Levi Roots, such a sweetie

  • this is probably as WESTERN as any Chinese food can ever get

  • what in the world made you think you were making CHINESE food?

  • @funkyliciousgal08 lol. I *didn't* know it existed. I only know after looking up the name you posted and reading the wiki article. I think this strikes people as kinda weird *as a Chinese dish* because toast is a western thing. So obviously it was invented after a western influence in China, hence the loan word "tosi" for toast.

  • what kinda knives do you use? how much do you spend? im looking for a good affordable chef knife

  • @jaygee514

but you say this dish originated from Guangzhou, (meaning you know it exist)

and then u say most of the dishes arent deep fried (shrimp toast)

I guess there are always exceptions, like people think all japanese food is just sushi, when in fact they have a lot more than that
