  • A mold remediation professional can make recommendations for effective microbial chemical solutions. Many of these solutions although very safe (even green) require special applications (e.g., protective gear, full face respirators, specific protocols followed to be effective).

  • The ionic structure of bleach prevents chlorine molecules from penetrating into semi-porous materials such as drywall and wood. The active chlorine molecules remain on the outside surface, and only the water portion of the mixture is absorbed. Typically bleach shunts the mold (temporarily) and the growth returns in a larger area defined by the cleaning or scrubbing action.

  • Great video. Yes, in addition to a general inspection, a licensed mold remediation or IAQ professional should be consulted before any property goes on the market or is purchased. Also, be advised that "bleach" in not formulated as a cleaning agent for mold contamination on permeable materials.
